The music of Demon’s Souls has always been the best of any Souls game to date, and this still holds true in the Remake. You simply won’t find better boss music anywhere in the gaming industry than Demon’s Souls. Demon’s Souls takes place across 5 distinctive locations, represented by 5 Archstones, each with their own NPCs and lore. These worlds feel huge, and the levels themselves sprawling with lots to explore and secrets to find. The worst part about this is that Demon’s Souls has PvP as well, meaning that people who pre-ordered the game or paid for the DLC would have an unfair advantage over other players as well, which is just ridiculous. While one might argue that this actually added to the mysterious nature of the game, the act of watching NPCs talk still feels like a definite upgrade that all future From Software games should definitely adopt.
One of only two weapons occupying Demon’s Souls’ Very Large Swords category, the Dragon Bone Smasher is, as the name implies, a massive weapon forged with the intent of aiding in battle against dragons. With a strength requirement of 30 and B damage scaling in that stat, it’s an excellent mid-to-late game weapon for Strength builds. Ironically enough, it’s not all that useful against the Dragon God due to the puzzle-like design of the fight. w188 in area 4-1, as you can see in the above video by YouTube creator Ashen One, you only need to defeat the Phalanx boss from level 1-1 to gain access to this weapon. The tunnel is also home to several enemies that drops great crafting materials for your weapons. The bosses’ difficulty varies with the 2nd area’s Flamelurker being the baddest of them all. At the start of the game, there will be less freedom as the player is forced to clear the tutorial stage up until the 1st area of Boletarian Palace. At this current time, it is also impossible to raise soul level so it is suggested to try and learn the basics of the game during this period. Also learning the proper uses of items, blocking, and patience is the key to getting through this stage.

The entrances to the tunnel are usually blocked by fire lizards. When you do, move away from them and continue going through the tunnels after the lizards explode. Entering the tunnel after ignoring or defeating previous opponents, you will see a mist that leads to the next boss, the Flamelurker. A walkthrough of the boss fight can be found on a separate page of the guide. After jumping down to the very bottom, you will get to a place full of sand.
Dreglings are in the bridge, try to lure them one by one to the upper room to fight them in a more comfortable environment. While going down, you’ll notice a hole on the wall to your right. Go through it to a small balcony to obtain x1 Unknown Hero’s Soul. Go down all the way to loot x3 Half Moon Grass from a corpse and pull the lever next to the door to open it.

To get the Falchion early, players will need to travel to the Shrine of Storms. It will take a little time to reach the location because players will need to complete the first location of the game before other Archstones become available. Unlike the Dark Souls series, which is fully developed by From Software and published by Bandai Namco, Demon’s Souls was a collaboration between From Software and Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Studio. Sony, presumably, owns the intellectual property, and until very recently, hasn’t released any of its games on PC.

The first time you won’t kill them all, so try to kill as many as you can. As the story progresses, you will unlock area spells that will allow you to kill all the lizards at once. However, beware of the two Red Phantoms, who are very strong in groups. It’s best to provoke one, kill him quickly, and then take care of the next.
Equipment & Magic
Demon’s Souls is known for its tough boss fights, but there are handy methods to tackle each battle that can erase its difficulty. The gameplay trailer shown off during September’s PS5 showcase was a beautiful demonstration of how Demon’s Souls will look and play on the PS5. It’s looking pretty amazing, so it’s even more disappointing that Sony retracted the PC announcement. It’s all about learning enemy patterns and learning the environments, knowing in combat when to challenge yourself with that risk and reward combat system, when to go in and attack and when to pull back and defend. The Gloom Armor set is a heavy armor that can be gained by defeating Yurt, the Silent Chief. The armor itself has a dark brandishing, perfect for those who want to achieve a darker character design.
The visual upgrade is a jump beyond the other Soulsborne games. On that note, a flash back to Demon’s Souls’ frame-rate on PS3 is a great reminder that there is a lot of room for improvement. From the very first areas in Boletaria, you could count on a drop to 12 frames per second every time a dragon wreaks havoc on those initial bridges. The combination of multiple enemies, broad draw distance, and lots of full-res alpha for fire, really hammered Sony’s machine. And while there’s really no confirmation on the remake’s frame-rate targets, the 30fps trailer encode at least shows no drops.
Demon’s Souls is the prototypical Souls game, so it carries a bunch of the hallmarks of the formula that has come to define From Software’s titles in the years since. You play a lone warrior venturing into a dark fantasy land dominated by monsters and demons, where your goal is to slay enemies to gain the souls they carry. Those souls can be spent on leveling your character up by adjusting your stats, which can alter the game by allowing you to use different weapons, speeding up your actions, or giving you access to magic. If you die, however, you lose what souls you’ve earned but haven’t spent, so planning and strategizing, playing carefully, and managing risk are all key to the experience. The original PS3 version released in 2009 and was generally well received, but FromSoftware’s mainstream popularity only truly began after the first Dark Souls took the internet by storm.
Just around the corner near the execution platform where you’ll see a cage on the ground, look around the corner to find another slope. Head down to find a body that you can loot to find a Blue-Eye Knight Helm. If you continue going up the slope, five more black phantom Dreglings will appear. Once you’ve defeated them, you’ll be able to loot the body the enemies were guarding to find x1 Renowned Warrior Soul.
They’ll affect certain things in the game, like whether you have access to particular areas or whether a specific non-player character will appear. Fortunately, there’s a pretty clear indicator that shows when you’ve gone above 50% of your equip weight, which is where those chunky, sluggish rolls start. Level up your Endurance stat at the Maiden in Black if you want to equip heavier armor and weapons but still remain agile. You will have to worry about your equip burden — the total weight of the armor and weapons you’re wearing — if you want to stay mobile and agile.
